A quickie from the evil world of work

Thursday, November 17, 2005
Ya know I think I need to do some serious praise to God. This methiod seems to be working. To drain out the ungodly negativity here at work here is my method

1 ipod shuffle filled with songs of praise and contemporary christian songs, and two of the sojourn cd's.

Set loud

Set to shuffle

And now I have a random ordered playlist that does nto stop.....until the battery runs down and it lasts 8-12 hours as it is.

Walk around, go to the bathroom, buy lunch, eat lunch and the songs continue to play.

One day I will have to sing a song of praise to God. One that has yet to be written.....

One day.

Ipod rocks!!!!

That method works for me...except I have a generic version of the ipod and my battery doesn't last nearly that long. Anyhow, our office is currently squeezed into a small room about an hour away from home because our real office was damaged in Hurricane Katrina. There has been much insanity here over the past couple of months...and having an mp3 player to plug in (my ears), turn on and crank up has been very helpful! So has finding ways to serve my co-workers during this time. I have taken to, and really enjoyed, baking things, and leaving cards and treats on people's desks. And, either I have gotten used to the insanity or they have and chilled out OR the baked goods and gifts has helped some. :)

    Thy way, not mine, O lord

    Thy way, not mine, O Lord,
    However dark it be;
    Lead me by Thine own hand,
    Choose out the path for me.

    Smooth let it be or rough,
    It will be still the best;
    Winding or straight, it leads
    Right onward to Thy rest.

    I dare not choose my lot;
    I would not, if I might;
    Choose Thou for me, my God,
    So I shall walk aright.

    Take Thou my cup, and it
    With joy or sorrow fill,
    As best to Thee may seem;
    Choose Thou my good and ill.

    Choose Thou for me my friends,
    My sickness or my health;
    Choose Thou my cares for me
    My poverty or wealth.

    The kingdom that I seek
    Is Thine: so let the way
    That leads to it be Thine,
    Else I must surely stray.

    Not mine, not mine the choice
    In things or great or small;
    Be Thou my Guide, my Strength
    My Wisdom, and my All.

    ~Horatius Bonar
